Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba Research Fund Request for Proposals
The Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba has established a research fund in support of families and individuals
affected by Cerebral Palsy in Manitoba.
A grant for a research project is available to any clinician / researcher whose main focus is addressing quality
of life for persons affected by CP. The possible areas of interest are: increasing quality of life through activity,
effective therapies, education and innovative equipment development. All research projects must be outcome based
with clear goals and be well designed. Research projects may be a part of a larger project. The focus of the
research project must be regarding Cerebral Palsy and priority will be given to Manitoba based projects.
The maximum amount of the $20,000.00 is available for the grant; more than one project can be funded, provided
the total awarded for all grants does not exceed the yearly maximum. One or multiyear funding will be considered.
All applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba. The final decision
to award, or not award, a grant in accordance with this request for proposals shall be made by the Board of Directors
of the Cerebral Palsy Association ("Board") in its sole discretion. If, in the opinion of the Board, research
projects do not meet the minimum threshold, a grant may not be awarded.
Application begin with a letter of intent (LOI) which is reviewed by the research committee; if the LOI is
approved, applicants are invited to submit a full proposal. Applications are then reviewed by the research
committee which will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors.
- Letter of intent - due May 15, 2017
- Approval of Letter of Intent / Invitation for full proposal - June 30, 2017
- Full proposal deadline - August 15, 2017
- Review of Proposal - September 15, 2017
- Announcement of successful Proposal(s) - October 6, 2017
Notes:
- LOI must be approx. 2 pages.
- Full proposal must not be more than 8 pages / must include a budget.
- Full proposal must have a plan for knowledge translation.
- A presentation of the full proposal may be required.

have partnered to develop bilingual newsletters on ‘hot topics’ in Cerebral Palsy research that are relevant
for families and for clinicians. They have limited technical jargon and provide an overview of what is known
on a particular research area and how the information may be used in practice.
